JUST IN: Lewis Dunk finally makes a career decision on leaving Brighton this summer.

Since making his debut for the Seagulls in 2010, the 31-year-old center back has played in 416 games, aiding the team’s ascent from League One to the Premier League.

He was instrumental in helping Brighton achieve their best-ever league result the previous season, finishing sixth and earning their first-ever trip to Europe.

In fact, with 3,208 passes made in 2022–2023, Dunk produced more than any other Premier League player.

“When I first joined and was coming up to the first team, did I think this club would be in Europe? Probably not,” Dunk said on the club’s official website.

“To achieve European football as captain, I’ve never been prouder. It’s exciting times, hopefully we can do ourselves justice in Europe, as well as in the league and cups.

“To actually sit back and realise what we had achieved was an incredible feeling. Walking out in a Europa League game for the first time might bring some emotions out of me, once we’ve seen the draw it’ll become a reality. It’s just an immense pride that we achieved it together.”

“Long live the captain!” Head coach Roberto De Zerbi added.

“I’m really happy he has signed this new contract. It’s good news for Lewis and the club.”

Dunk and his Brighton team-mates will be in action at the Premier League Summer Series, which starts on Saturday 22 July.
