Chelsea appoint another Brighton suit to their scouting and recruitment team

Sam Jewell left a similar post at Brighton and began working as Chelsea’s head of global recruitment today. Jewell had been on a “gardening leave” before to this.

Exercise Field Guru is the first to get this report and specializes in this kind of thing—coaches, scouts, and other staff people moving around. According to reports, Jewell was finally able to begin working for Chelsea today—though, let’s be honest, there’s a good chance he was working on a number of projects behind the scenes before receiving his staff orientation and email login.

We announced back in February that Jewell, another Brighton suit we’ve determined is crucial to our mission, has agreed to join us. At the top of our recruitment pyramid, he can now be joined by Joe Shields, Paul Winstanley, and Laurence Stewart. To whom does each report? Ask not of us. At this point, we’re not even sure if they know.

“Director of Global Recruitment” is Jewell’s new title. Co-Director of Talent and Recruitment is Shields’ title. Stewart and Winstanley, the co-sporting directors, received the report. Directors outnumber Oscar winners!

Since Clearlake took over, Chelsea’s recruitment and scouting departments have been continuously reorganized. It would seem that it would be practically over by now, but every few months, fresh faces appear to be added.

The system is a little unclear to us; it starts with two football directors and only grows more complicated from there. Numerous individuals have been moved around, and after only a few months, well-known figure Christopher Vivell was dropped.

It can’t be good to have so much confusion; hopefully, this is the last addition for a while. Hopefully, Jewell is carrying some of Brighton’s most valuable information with him.
