Celtic starlet Daniel Kelly has reportedly rejected a contract offer.

The 18-year-old’s contract with Celtic expires on December 31st, therefore, in the summer, he may talk about signing a pre-contract with somewhere else.

However, Celtic is eager to sign the gifted youngster to a long-term deal.

However, as of right now, no new agreement has been reached; according to Sky Sports, Kelly turned down a Celtic contract offer.

According to the outlet, Kelly turned down an offer but is still eager to sign new terms because club executives are also hoping for a deal.

Under Brendan Rodgers, the midfielder found his way into the Celtic starting lineup this season and has made six appearances.

Although Kelly has been a consistent member of the Celtic B team, he just moved up to the first team, scoring his first goal against Dundee back in February.

Kelly’s first goal for the team came after boss Rodgers even acknowledged that he was envious of the teenager for making it through the development system.

“One of our young guys, Daniel Kelly, scores the team’s first goal ever,” the speaker stated.

“As a Celtics fan, I can’t help but be jealous of him since he has been here since he was eight years old, and it shows that all of his hard work has paid off.

“It was a great finish from him.”

Meanwhile, Chris Sutton reckons Rodgers has gotten under Philippe Clement’s skin with his Celtic vs Rangers derby mind games.

The Ibrox boss fumed over Rodgers’ “disrespectful” remark as he suggested Celtic would ‘have fun’ against Rangers.

Pundit Sutton commented: “Brendan has got under his skin. When he first came in he was always calm and composed but he is feeling the pressure.

“I don’t know why Brendan has said it. It would have been tongue in cheek, but it is better to do your talking at the end of the season.”
