Brendan Rodgers has emphasized to Celtic multiple times this season how important it is for the team to add quality players.

The Celtic manager conveyed that the hiring that was done in the summer

was insufficient due to the team’s poor results both domestically and in the Champions League.

The fact that Rodgers chose to start the outstanding Liam Scales above the £7.5 million pair Gustaf Lagerbielke

and Maik Nawrocki is the real testament to his skill.

But while the Celtics manager considers how to handle Joe Hart’s impending retirement,

Rodgers is now prioritizing the goalkeeping position.

We reported this morning that Celtic are considering Liam Kelly of Motherwell as a possible Hart substitute.

However, Rodgers was purportedly considering a player early in the season who has advanced to the

Champions League Final and might have provided the much-needed quality the Hoops manager had been searching for.

Following ties to Celtic, Andriy Lunin makes the Champions League Final.

For slightly over €14 million (£12.03 million), the Spanish powerhouses acquired Lunin from Zorya Luhansk.

The Ukrainian international was out of favor at the Galacticos at the time,

but any possible move was complicated because Madrid wanted to utilize Lunin in exchange for Kepa Arrizabalaga, which would need a trade with Chelsea.

But no deal happened, and although Lunin was given his chance at Madrid following Thibaut Courtois’ season-ending cruciate ligament injury,

rumors suggested that a January transfer to Celtic was also possible.

Lunin now has a Champions League Final to look forward to after defeating Bayern Munich 4-3 on aggregate in the 2-1 victory at the Santiago Bernabeu last night.

Prior to joining Real Madrid in 2018, he had hardly played. This season, he has made 30 appearances.

After Lunin’s stellar play this season, any possible move to Glasgow is probably out of the question because

it appears that talks to extend his contract into 2025 are in progress now that the Ukrainian has shown the La Liga powerhouses how valuable he is.
