This summer, Borussia Dortmund may rekindle their interest in Southampton defender Armel Bella-Kotchap,
as a deal is viewed as mutually beneficial.
Today, Ruhr 24 discusses the player and how Southampton’s possible decision to relist Bella
-Kotchap could have rekindled interest from Borussia Dortmund.
They claim that the defender “could be interesting again” for Dortmund because he is “probably about to change” clubs in the summer.
During the summer transfer window, they showed interest in him but were unable to come to an agreement. That hasn’t stopped the Champions League finalists from being interested in him, though.
In reality, because he is only 22 years old and has the “flexibility” to play a variety of defensive positions,
he perfectly matches the type of player they are searching for.
He is seen as reasonably priced as well, with an estimated price tag of about €20 million, which the Germans could easily pay.
They chose to invest in their forward line rather than defense,
thus they didn’t really push the move over the line until the summer.
The defender is anticipated to return to Southampton this summer, but he ultimately ended up with PSV Eindhoven.
They will then probably put him back on the market, which makes sense for Dortmund since they might need to replace Mats Hummels, whose contract is about to expire.
