Prior to the summer transfer window, Liverpool has been connected to several talented prospects.

For a 19-year-old winger, it has competition from Premier League competitors.

Wesley Gassova, a teenage player from Brazil, may be signed by West Ham before Liverpool does, according to reports.

The 19-year-old and other promising prospects in South America are reportedly being watched by the Reds.

Luis Guilherme, a midfielder for Palmeiras who has been compared to legendary former Barcelona and AC Milan player Ronaldinho,

has already been a possible transfer target. Last month, The Daily Mail revealed that many teams,

including Liverpool, were keeping an eye on the young player.

Wesley seems to be under observation now that The Standard reported that Anfield was showing interest in him.

The transfer department will be headed by new sporting director Richard Hughes,

with new head coach Arne Slot also helping to identify targets.

But, with West Ham leading the race for the winger, any interested club could need to move quickly.

Wesley is rumored to be Tim Steidten, the sporting director of the Hammers,’s top target,

and negotiations are reportedly under progress.

Given that the player’s representation hold the remaining 70% of his rights and that only his current club,

Corinthians, owns 70% of the player’s rights, the agreement is probably going to be tricky.

Sources claim that Corinthians is worth $33 million (£26 million/€30 million).

Wesley scored four goals for the Brazilian team since making his first-team debut

in 2020 at the age of just 17. Real Betis and Atletico Madrid are reportedly also interested.

On Sunday night, Wesley played the entire ninety minutes while his team was pinned by Fortaleza.

With just one victory in five games this season, Corinthians is now ranked 14th in the standings.

Even though West Ham manager David Moyes has already said that he will be

leaving the team at the end of the current campaign, Steidten has already begun identifying potential replacements.

This summer, former Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui is expected to take the Scot’s position.
