West Brom tipped to sack Carlos Corberan and bring in Ex-Sunderland manager ahead of championship playoff against Southampton

Since Steve Bruce was fired, the former Huddersfield Town manager has been frequently connected to the Baggies position.

Now that he has emerged as the front-runner, he has been appointed to turn around Albion.

But what is the background of Carlos Corberan and who is he?

Corberan, who was born in Cheste, Spain, played goalkeeping for Valencia throughout his formative years.

However, he left the position after competing for the team’s reserve and youth teams to pursue a career in coaching.

His lecturer at Valencia University, where he was studying sports and exercise science,

helped him get an interview at Villarreal, where he started working in the academy of the team.West Brom manager Carlos Corberan REJECTS the chance to replace Jesse Marsch at Leeds| All Football

After that, he played for the Spanish club for six seasons,

the final three of which he played with the first team as manager Juan Carlos Garrido’s backroom staff.

On Pep Guardiola’s advice, he moved to Saudi Arabia in 2012 to work as Raul Caneda’s assistant manager at Al-Ittihad Club.

While residing in Saudi Arabia, Corberan led lower league clubs and traveled to observe leagues in other nations where he thought he may eventually find employment.

One of those nations was Cyrpus, where he was given his first opportunity as a number one in 2016 when Corberan was unemployed and Doxa Katokopias lacked a manager.

In a short amount of time, he helped the team escape the relegation zone and proceeded to Ermis Aradippou.

Once more, it was only a brief employment until he was offered the opportunity to work on an Aspire Academy project in England—an academy that had been established in Qatar.

Because Leeds United and the academy are partners, that opened up the prospect of getting hired by the team.

He thus showed up at Elland Road in June 2017 to play against the club’s under-23 team.
