After losing 2-0 to Air Force Club of Iraq in the Asian Champions League on Monday, Nuno was fired by the team due to their difficulties in the Saudi Pro League.

Nuno, who led the Wolverhampton Wanderers to victory from 2017 to 2021, had taken over as manager of Jeddah’s Al Ittihad since July of last year.

Al Ittihad released a statement on X, formerly known as Twitter, stating, “The club has announced the end of its contract with Portuguese coach Nuno Santo.”

“This decision is the result of a thorough technical assessment of the previous phase, in which he was the head coach of the first football team.”

According to the announcement, assistant coach Hassan Khalifa will assume interim leadership while the team decides on Nuno’s replacement.

Nuno took over as manager of Tottenham in the summer of 2021, but he was fired after only four months.
