Club hopes to prey on Leicester City’s financial woes for a surprise deal.

Sevilla have not fully ruled out the idea of hiring Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca this summer, and the option is still on the table.

According to Vamos Mi Sevilla, the Leicester manager is still on director of football Victor Orta’s shortlist to replace Quique Sanchez Flores.

They say that the Italian’s’very colourful and offensive game’ has caught the attention of the Spanish director, who also believes he matches the profile of the youthful and eager coach he is looking for at Sevilla in the future.

Initially, recruiting him seemed like a pipe dream, given that he had two years left on his contract with Leicester and a reputed €10 million release clause.

However, the specter of potential fines hovering over Leicester owing to budgetary troubles and PSR violations, which could result in the dissolution of the team that was recently promoted from the Championship, implies the manager could still leave this summer.

He has a meeting scheduled with Leicester’s hierarchy to discuss his future plans and has not ruled out returning to Sevilla, owing to sentimental reasons.

His return is only feasible if he entirely separates from Leicester, as Sevilla is unwilling to pay for him, owing to a lack of funds.

They haven’t entirely ruled out the move yet, possibly expecting that he quits Leicester due to their present troubles and makes himself available, which we believe is highly improbable.

The media coverage of the Spanish club seems excessively hopeful, maybe delusional.
