POINTS DEDUCTION: Portsmouth land 10-point deduction following numerous administrative breaches – EFL release statement.

The Pompey Supporters’ Trust (PST) currently owns the club, which was placed into administration on February 17, 2012, and was on the verge of liquidation.

However, a takeover of Fratton Park was made possible by an out-of-court agreement between the administrators and previous owners.

They have already lost their place in League One.

Although it was anticipated that Portsmouth’s point deduction would be carried over to the following season, the Football League declared on Saturday that the penalty would take effect immediately.

The league has imposed other conditions on the club in addition to the 10-point deduction, including limitations on playing budgets, future borrowing, and loan repayments for the following five seasons.

Football League chairman Greg Clarke remarked, “I would like to welcome the Pompey Supporters’ Trust to the Football League and pay tribute to their efforts to save their club.”

“They have secured Portsmouth’s professional football club’s survival by uniting the city’s supporters and the Club behind their cause.

But the hard work is only getting started, and we’ll keep assisting the new owners in building a sustainable future for Portsmouth Football Club so that it can permanently overcome its protracted financial difficulties.

Given the amount of debt, the duration of the administration, and the problems pertaining to the ownership of Fratton Park, the Football League has faced several difficulties. I salute all those involved, as this result has been the result of a great deal of hard effort, determination, and clear thinking.

“Finally, I would like to pay tribute to Portsmouth supporters for giving their financial backing to the Trust’s rescue plan and for turning out in force throughout the administration as it has kept the club in business. Hopefully, this marks the start of a better future.”
