According to an article published in the Sunderland Echo, Everton expressed interest in West Ham United

attacker Divin Mubama back in January. It’s understood that during the winter, the Toffees, West Bromwich

Albion, and Sunderland all made attempts to sign the English striker.

Due to his struggles in getting consistent first-team playing time for West Ham in the Premier League, Mubama

is having a difficult season at the London Stadium. Despite making just 12 appearances for the Hammers this

season, the 19-year-old has not helped them score or create any goals on any level.

The gifted young player has spent all of his playing time off the bench, which helps to explain why he hasn’t

been as effective in front of the goal. Mubama’s pass success percentage in the Premier League is 72.7%, thus he

needs to figure out how to distribute the ball more effectively (data via whoscored).

At the end of this season, his contract with the East London club will expire, which could present an

opportunity for the Toffees to recruit him later this year on a free transfer.

Is Everton Still Going After Obama?

When he plays consistently and confidently on the pitch, Mubama can carve out space for himself to get some

shots on goal and can be a solid finisher in the final third. He is also capable of some deft ball runs.

The young English player must, however, figure out how to sharpen his link-up play up top.

If Mubama hopes to become a top-tier forward in the future, he needs to play every day.

Thus, if the Toffees are prepared to give him a consistent run of games to demonstrate his value in the Premier

League the following season, it makes sense for them to go back for him.

Mubama, who is 19 years old, has the potential to become a future English football great. In addition, his

contract is about to expire, making him a reasonably priced alternative for the Merseyside club to pursue at the

end of the current campaign. Given his prior Premier League experience, Mubama should have little trouble

adjusting to life at Goodison Park.
