Newcastle United’s increasing interest in 22-year-old Boca Juniors winger Kevin Zenon was recently covered by us.

Zenon has long piqued the interest of the Magpies, who have been following him even before he moved to Boca Juniors in January.

Zenon has featured in 19 games for Boca since making that transfer, contributing four assists and three goals,

which has only served to pique Newcastle’s interest.

Journalist Martin Costa is now speculating on Bolavip that Newcastle might be ready to relocate.

Zenon’s contract has a €15 million (£12.8 million) release clause,

although it’s unclear if Newcastle would make the entire bid or try to negotiate a little discount off the asking price.

Although Boca Juniors is unwilling to sell, Costa claims that Newcastle has “again expressed an intention” to

sign Zenon and may make a “concrete offer.” This does imply that we might have to pay the full sum.

It’s undoubtedly a gamble worth taking for such a bright young talent, especially for less than £13 million.

It is important to emphasize once more that Zenon is a left-winger,

a position Eddie Howe possesses plenty of cover for.

As such, it is unclear how Zenon would fit in there or if Newcastle anticipates losing players this summer who can fill that role.

Anthony Gordon, Harvey Barnes, and Alexander Isak are our three clear left-wingers,

and we don’t see any of them moving to make room for an unknown.

It’s an intriguing one since Zenon seems like a promising young player, and at £13 million, it’s too good to refuse,

but how frequently would we get to see him play? Unless, of course,

he proves to be a tremendous talent and elevates our present wingers to the status of the unimpressive.
