DONE DEAL : Brighton officially agrees to deal with Kazenga LuaLua as a free agent after being released by Charlton Athletic.

The winger signed a short-term contract at The Valley after being signed by Charlton in March.

In doing so, he was reunited with Addicks’ manager Nathan Jones, with whom he had previously worked at Luton Town.

In addition, it was the 33-year-old’s first time back in England;

he had been working for Levadiakos in Greece.

However, LuaLua has been given permission to leave after making just a few appearances off the bench.

Alongside him has gone forward Connor Wickham, who Jones had also signed to a short-term contract.

Additionally, Charlton has stated that Lewis Ward, Jack Payne, Terell Thomas,

Diallang Jaiyesimi, Richard Chin, and Michael Hector will all leave when their contracts expire this summer.

The club released a statement in which it said,

“We would like to thank all of the departing players for their efforts during

their time at Charlton and wish them the very best of luck for the future.”

LuaLua began his professional career with Newcastle United,

and he initially relocated to South Yorkshire after leaving the Magpies.

After signing a loan to Doncaster, he made three brief stops with Brighton & Hove Albion.
