Real Pod Wednesdays: Ohio State keeps key players out of portal, could have big 2025 NFL draft class

It wasn’t that long ago that Sean Stewart and Jake Diebler had almost daily conversations.

Diebler, who was an assistant coach at Ohio State, was the main recruiter for Stewart, a five-star talent in the 2023 class.

Now, despite the fact that circumstances have altered, that bond will continue.

Diebler is no longer an assistant coach and Stewart is no longer a prep prospect, but the two will work together this season.

Stewart committed to play for Diebler in his first full season as Ohio State’s head coach after spending a year at Duke.

Stewart stated that his choice to transfer to the Buckeyes was influenced by the rapport he had built with Diebler during the first round of recruiting,

which was shorter than it was during his high school years.Quick guide to the 2022 Ohio State football season - Axios Columbus

Stewart commented, “Diebler and I sensed our past connection from the first time we recruited me.”

When I was in high school, he was the head recruiter.

It was great to speak with him again when he phoned me the first day after I entered the portal because we had spoken nearly every day before my choice day. He would not stop talking about how amazing it was that he had hired me as an assistant coach and was now a head coach, coming full circle.

“Since the first day he started recruiting me, there has been a lot of chemistry.”Stewart was a 6-foot-9,

227-pound forward from Windermere, Florida. During his one season at Duke, he averaged 2.6 points and 3.2 rebounds in 33 appearances off the bench,

averaging 8.3 minutes per game. With three years of eligibility remaining, he joins the Buckeyes with the intention of showcasing more of his skills.
