As many of you are aware, Southampton FC had a very busy summer transfer window as players joined and left

the team.

In addition to losing several well-known players, the Saints also had players go on a temporary basis,

as defender Romain Perraud did.

The Frenchman was clearly not going to be in Russell Martin’s plans, and the club arranged for him to rejoin

OGC Nice after returning to his home country.

Romain Perraud made a summer transfer to OGC Nice.

Since being acquired by Southampton during the summer transfer window of 2021 for a hefty cost,

Romain Perraud has been a member of the team.

After the 2022–2023 season, he discovered that he was more heavily involved in first team duties in the 2022–2023 season.

Perraud participated in seven FA Cup and EFL Cup games in addition to his 29 appearances in the top division.

However, with Southampton’s relegation to the Championship, several players’ futures were in doubt,

and this summer his circumstances changed.

Perraud played 59 minutes in the EFL Cup match against Gillingham to begin the season as a member of the

Saints first team, but that would be his sole game as an English player this year.

Perraud joined the Ligue 1 team on loan for the season after Southampton and Nice reached an agreement at

the end of August. The club has the option to make the loan permanent for £8.5 million.

This summer, Southampton may receive a cash infusion of £8.5 million.

According to reports, Nice and Southampton have an option to purchase defender Romain Perraud for £8.5

million this summer. Perraud is 26 years old.

If that’s the case, it’s clear that the Saints are glad to see Perraud depart the team; last summer,

a permanent departure couldn’t be arranged.

Now that Perraud hasn’t played as much as he would have hoped for, it will all depend on if Nice wants to sign

him permanently.

Perraud has only appeared in 17 Ligue 1 games this season, and only two of those games have been starts.

The defender is playing an average of just 21 minutes of football per game, and he hasn’t scored or provided an

assist, according to Sofascore.com.

Perraud has demonstrated some of his defensive abilities even though he might not have contributed in the

latter third.

According to Sofascore.com, the left-back has recovered the ball 0.9 times this season, averaged 0.4

interceptions, 0.4 tackles, and 0.4 tackles per game.
