Dak Prescott Will Not Face Criminal Charges After Suspected Sexual Assault Investigation

Dak Prescott, the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, frequently makes news for his on-field exploits, whether they are good or negative. However, that hasn’t always been the case during this offseason.

An accuser claimed in February that Dak Prescott had sexually assaulted her in a Dallas strip club parking lot back in 2017. That made the Lone Star state’s authorities look into it.

A legal lawsuit was also brought by the accuser against Prescott.

The announcement by Dallas police in March that they had opened an inquiry into the event garnered headlines.

However, they said on Thursday that they were finished looking into the long-term starting quarterback for the Cowboys. More from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram is provided here.

Kristin Lowman, a representative for Dallas police, stated that “an investigation was conducted and the case is closed.” Investigators concluded there was not enough proof to establish a crime had been committed.

It was clear that Levi McCathern, Prescott’s lawyer, was happy with the result. McCathern released a statement saying,

“I want to thank the Dallas Police Department and Dallas County District Attorneys’ office for their thorough investigation of the allegations against Dak Prescott.”

“As we anticipated, they uncovered nothing in their thorough investigation of the facts to warrant a criminal prosecution.”

Dak Prescott and his accuser are still involved in a civil action.

Victoria Shores of Fort Worth is represented by attorney Yohel Zehaie, who claimed it was a predictable result. He is unfazed, though. Zehaie emailed The Star-Telegram, saying,

” Unfortunately, it takes a while for victims to come out and that can make it very difficult to prosecute these cases.”

“We appreciate the efforts of DPD, and Mr. Prescott is in no way cleared of any wrongdoing.

“Actually, we think the investigation revealed discrepancies in Mr. Prescott’s account, which is why we are pursuing the counterclaims we have already filed.

This marks the conclusion of the beginning rather than the beginning of the finish in what will be a lengthy legal war for months.
