Cowboys QB Dak Prescott provides significant update on contract negotiations
Dak Prescott, the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys,
avoided talking about his contract negotiations with the team.
Prescott may be aware that this might be his final season in
Dallas even though he reiterated his dedication to the team.
Prescott, a three-time Pro Bowler, is nearing the end of a four-year,
$160 million contract that has no-tag and no-trade provisions.

Both parties, according to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, “appear nowhere close to a [new] deal.”
As reported by CBS Sports’ Garrett Podell, Prescott recently declared,
“I’m not trying to become the [highest-paid player in the league] necessarily.
” But quarterbacks, including Jalen Hurts of Philadelphia (five years, $255M),
Lamar Jackson of Baltimore (five years, $260M), and Joe Burrow of
Cincinnati (five years, $275M), reset the market the previous offseason.
Dallas is likely waiting to offer Prescott a big-time contract until it sees more from him in the postseason.
In eight seasons, he’s gone 2-5 in the playoffs and has never guided the Cowboys to the NFC Championship game.
Prescott maintains his composure and thinks he’ll make significant progress
in his second season under head coach Mike McCarthy’s direction despite these postseason setbacks.
Last season, Prescott finished second in the MVP vote behind Jackson despite
leading the league in passing touchdowns (36 in 17 games).
Prescott should be able to secure his future with the Cowboys if quarterback
can build on his career year and guide the team to a long playoff run.
