To the extent that the Scottish FA, who are renowned for their defensive style, were compelled to take notice.

It was stated earlier this year that the association would be reviewing its protocols and that Crawford Allan,

Head of Referee Operations, would be departing his position.

This followed multiple complaints from clubs throughout the division about subpar officiating,

particularly with regard to the usage of video technology.

In an effort to address the situation starting with the upcoming season,

a new appointment is now scheduled—someone who is not a member of the Scottish football elite.

is the front-runner to succeed Allan as the SFA’s head of referees.

Before retiring two years ago, Moss worked as a referee for 23 years,

spending more than ten of those years in the Premier League.

He has since worked as a group manager on the professional game board in England,

where he evaluated referee performances following games.

He stepped down from that position in March and is now scheduled to relocate north of

the border to assist in resolving the problem here.

SFA will be up against Celtic, and they have a lot to prove.

Until we see the evidence in the field, it’s difficult to predict how big of an impact the SFA’s ongoing refereeing review and new appointments will have. It’s not like their followers’ kindness has been demanded of them.

Having a new perspective in the department from someone outside Scottish football might be beneficial.

In Scotland, referees are frequently accused of being overly snobbish and self-serving.

Moss could definitely make a few changes.

We know Celtic will continue to keep a careful eye on all of this, but only time will tell.

This season, Brendan Rodgers has made it plain that he will address grievances as they come up.
