Celtic defender Liam Scales has signed a new four-year contract with the club.

The Republic of Ireland international has established himself as a regular in the squad this season,

capitalising on a little injury issue at the start of the season.

After returning from a loan spell at Aberdeen, he was promoted to the starting lineup following a series of defensive injuries to Cameron Carter-Vickers, Maik Nawrocki, and Stephen Welsh.

The 25-year-old former Shamrock Rovers player, who joined the Hoops from the Irish club in 2021,

impressed in a 1-0 win at Ibrox in September and has remained a regular in Brendan Rodgers’ squad since.

The Scottish champions host Hearts at Parkhead on Saturday, looking to extend their three-point lead at the top to six,
