Update:While Sunderland A.F.C continues to look for a manager, Jose Mourinho comments out

Ruben Amorim can be successful in any league, according to Jose Mourinho, despite reports that the Sporting CP manager is already working for a major league team.

The famed manager stated that Amorim would make the final decision and that it will be up to any interested

clubs to persuade him to join them.

In addition, he praised his countryman’s credentials and conveyed his admiration for the manager as a person

and coach.

When questioned about Amorim’s connections to West Ham and other English teams, Mourinho replied,

“It’s also a question I shouldn’t answer, what can I tell you?” in an interview with Maisfutebol on May 1

“As a coach and as a person, I like him. He seems to meet the prerequisites for instruction.

He is in a competitive league and plays for a big team, though. He will make the final decision, and the clubs who want or don’t want him will have to persuade him using a variety of arguments.

In addition to West Ham, Amorim has been tied to the Liverpool opening and

a potential Chelsea position in the event that Mauricio Pochettino leaves;

a summertime relocation to England is highly likely.

David Sullivan and the owner of Sporting CP met at Sullivan’s home to talk about

the potential appointment. However, rumors have emerged that the meeting

did not proceed smoothly due to disagreements between Amorim’s area of expertise and the club’s project.

For a brief moment, Mourinho himself was associated to the London Stadium post,

with Frank McAvennie told West Ham Zone that his hiring will ease worries about Moyes’ style of play.
