An optimistic update about a potential transfer agreement for Bruno Guimaraes, a midfield player for Newcastle United, has been provided to Liverpool.

As the ECHO has previously reported, the Reds have a great deal of admiration for the Brazilian,

even if a deal for Guimaraes was seen as somewhat of a non-starter earlier this year.

After learning earlier this week that Newcastle had suffered losses of £73.4 million upon

revealing their most recent financial figures, things might have altered in that regard.

Now, there’s a genuine chance the Magpies will have to give up one of their most

valuable assets to allay worries about financial fair play.

As much as the club would like to keep Guimaraes in their first team,

he may be one of the players sacrificed in an effort to generate money during the summer transfer window.

The former Lyon player “agreed” to a release clause in his contract for €115 million (£98 million),

which is due in three installments of €38 million (£32 million), according to an AS report on the player’s future.

Eddie Howe, the manager of Guimaraes,

verified the clause’s existence prior to the match against Sheffield United last weekend.

“Having that [release clause] was well planned and structured by the club,

” he stated. “Continuous speculating is unhealthy for both us and the gamer,

so we don’t want it. Naturally, we want to keep him, and I want to center our team around him.

“He appears content and at ease, and his form has been excellent.

He’ll be planning for a hectic summer in which we aim to bring the team,

and he’ll play a significant role in it. However, that is outside of our hands, so let’s see.”

According to the AS piece, Guimaraes is one of the players

the Newcastle board has selected to assist them in “settling accounts,”

and Premier League rivals are free to activate his departure valuation.

In October, Guimaraes re-signed with the Toon Army, extending his stay at St. James’ Park through 2028.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe stated,

“I’m delighted to get Bruno signed and committed to the long-term future of the football club,”

at the moment this arrangement was struck. He’s been doing so well since joining the team,

and he’s such a crucial player. Since he moved here, he has been a big success,

so I just hope he can keep up the good work and continue to be successful with us.”
