Will Still has announced that he will leave French club Stade de Reims with immediate effect,

as speculation about a number of English clubs grows.

The 31-year-old, whose passion for the game reputedly started from playing Football Manager as a child,

has had a successful two-year stay at Reims, steering the team away from the drop zone and into a comfortable mid-table place.

He notably took over a relegation-threatened Reims squad and led them to an astonishing 19-game unbeaten streak,

which at the time was the greatest in all five European divisions.

According to Mail Sport, Still spoke with Reims president Jean-Pierre Caillot and general manager Matheui Lacour on Thursday and agreed to leave the club at the end of the season. He departs Reims alongside his brother Nicolas, who has served as assistant manager, by mutual agreement.

In a press release, he added: “I thank Stade de Reims, prescient Calliot and Matheui Lacour for giving me this unique opportunity and for supporting me throughout my journey here.”

“I shall be eternally thankful to Stade de Reims and everyone connected, directly or indirectly, with the club.

“I would like to thank in particular all the players with whom I was able to work with,

all the technical, performance, analytical, medical staff as well as the stewards,

but also and above all the supporters of this wonderful club.”

Still, one of European football’s youngest managers, has been heavily linked with the Sunderland position in recent months.

He was on the shortlist to replace Tony Mowbray at the Stadium of Light in December before Michael Beale took over for 12 games.

Mike Dodds has been in interim command ever since,

but TalkSport says that the Black Cats may make another bid for Still now that he is a free agent.

Similarly, Still previously told Jake Humphrey on the High Performance Podcast that he supports West Ham.

They, too, could be seeking for a new manager this summer, as David Moyes’ future in the city remains unknown.
