Bruno Guimaraes signs record contract with Arsenal as Edu receives true transfer belief.

Bruno Guimaraes signs record contract with Arsenal as Edu receives true transfer belief.

Arsenal are increasing confidence that they can complete a massive summer transfer for Bruno Guimaraes, according to numerous sources who informed TEAMtalk that Edu has been given genuine hope that a deal to bring his compatriot to the club from Newcastle will go through.

The Gunners are determined to win the Premier League title this season after another successful season under Mikel Arteta. While Manchester City remain favourites to win the title, Arsenal have had a totally gratifying season, with the strongest defence and attack thus far.

Euro 2024 is currently less than fifty days away. Book a hotel with Marriott Bonvoy.

They have three games left, and while a win in each may not be enough, the Gunners could not have done more to dethrone Manchester City as champions and prevent them from earning a fourth consecutive English title.

Arsenal, like all teams, cannot afford to stand still, and Arteta’s squad has two or three obvious vulnerabilities that must be addressed this summer.

Indeed, their search for a new No. 9 is well documented, and optimistic reports on Thursday morning suggested a deal was close to being reached for Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee, after Edu reportedly promised the Dutchman’staggering figures’ to go to north London.

Arsenal also need a left-back answer, as Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jakub Kiwior, and Takehiro Tomiyasu have all covered – but none have taken the spot – this season.

They do have Kieran Tierney returning from a loan spell with Real Sociedad this summer, but TEAMtalk insiders believe the Scot will leave Emirates Stadium and is not in Arteta’s long-term plans.
Signing a new midfielder is crucial for Arsenal this summer.

Summer 2023 signing Jurrien Timber is also on the verge of returning to senior play after sustaining a devastating ACL injury on his debut on the first day of the season. The Dutchman is back in training and was playing left-back at the time of his injury, so Arsenal now has another potential option in that position.

However, the most pressing issue for the Gunners this season is their midfield quandary.

Last summer, the Gunners shattered their transfer record by signing Declan Rice from West Ham for up to £105 million, and the England midfielder has proven to be well worth the investment with some outstanding performances. In fact, it’s difficult to imagine where Arsenal would be without Rice’s impact and energy in the engine room this season.

And, while Jorginho has been offered a new contract and is expected to stay at Arsenal, the impending departure of Mohamed Elneny, combined with Thomas Partey’s injury-plagued season, means that finding a long-term and top-quality partner for Rice is critical to Arsenal’s transfer strategy this summer.

And, while Partey has been told that he will be at Arsenal next season, TEAMtalk knows that the Gunners will examine offers for the Ghanaian, who now has just over a year left on his contract and is unlikely to be offered another.

Bruno Guimaraes to Arsenal: Edu hopeful of reaching an agreement

As a result, Arsenal has placed a high priority on acquiring a new midfielder during the summer 2024 transfer window.

They have seriously examined a move for Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz, a player Arteta really admires and has attempted to sign on at least two occasions in the past.

However, Aston Villa’s insistence that Luiz is not for sale, combined with their projected £120 million value of the 13-time capped midfielder, makes a deal appear impossible.

As a result, Arsenal has been obliged to explore elsewhere, which has brought them to Guimaraes.

The 26-year-old has been an incredible revelation since joining Newcastle from Lyon for £40 million in January 2022, establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s top all-round midfielders and quickly becoming a fan favourite.

However, while the player is not eager to leave St James’ Park, where he is quite happy and settled, we understand he would be open to a move to either Arsenal or Manchester City if the opportunity presented.

In an ideal scenario, Newcastle would not want to sell either. However, the club will most certainly have to sacrifice one large sale this summer to help balance the books, stay under FFP rules, and aid in their own summer rebuilding plans.

And, with Guimaraes and striker Alexander Isak regarded as their two most valuable assets, Arsenal are now working hard to sign Guimaraes.

As a result, sources have told us that Arsenal boss Edu has been given genuine hope that a move would be completed this summer, with Newcastle placing a minimum £80 million price tag on the 20-times capped Brazil midfielder’s head. However, some reports say that the Magpies could bid up to £120 million for the 26-year-old.

In any case, there is a widespread belief that Newcastle will be forced to sell, and Arsenal will be in a prime position to capitalize.

Such a signing would provide Arteta with the elite midfield duo he seeks, with Rice and Guimaraes perhaps as good as any other in the world.
