Celtic to sack Brendan Rodgers on mutual consent and bring in Aberdeen’s Jonny Hayes on a four years contract.

Jonny Hayes of Aberdeen has been linked to a move to Celtic recently as the Premiership leaders consider hiring him as a potential coach. The winger’s contract expires in the summer, and many anticipate that he will hang up his boots and go into management. He turns 37 in July.

Temporary This season, Aberdeen manager Peter Leven has leaned heavily on Hayes, calling the backroom staff “stretched.” Hayes, 36, will stay with the Dons until the end of the current campaign in his current dual capacity as coach and player. He has, however, made hints that Aberdeen supporters would support Hayes should he decide to seek a coaching position elsewhere this summer.

“I don’t know what he is going to do after that. Jonny will play when I need him and he is still there. We are a little bit stretched for coaches, which is why we are all chipping in. Scott and Jonny are helping out,” Leven said.

“Jonny has opened that door by coaching the U16s here. I have seen him put on a couple of sessions and he’s a decent coach. What Jonny wants to do, we will support him.”

“I know I can trust Jonny in the stand as well. The information he gives me at half-time is vital. As a player and coach, he is brilliant.”
