Officially Confirmed: Aston Villa resign Tammy Abraham from As Roma on five-year deal

Aston Villa apparently had an agreement with Roma to buy Tammy Abraham before he was injured on the final day of the season.

According to reporter Ilario Di Giovambattista, Villa agreed to bring Abraham back to B6.

The Englishman has been linked with a return to the Premier League, with Villa among those reportedly interested.

Following a dismal second season in Italy, Roma were said to be open to receiving bids for the striker.

Although a move appeared to be imminent this summer,

Abraham is presently recovering from an ACL injury sustained after he fell awkwardly during the season’s finale against Spezia.

He was witnessed in excruciating pain when his leg gave way.

With him expected to remain out of action until at least November,

the possibility of him joining a new club has vanished. Villa were reportedly set to sign him after an initial loan term in 2018/19.

“Roma had already sold Abraham to Aston Villa for €30m,” Di Giovambattista claimed on RadioRadio.

“The sale had already been closed, but everything fell through due to an injury.

“According to our information, the Englishman will return in November 2023.”
