Brighton manager is set to move to Nottingham forest Amidst point deduction crisis

Just over five months ago, Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis made the terrible decision to fire manager Steve Cooper following six games without a victory.

The Welshman won the hearts of the Reds fans by taking over the team when they were rooted to the bottom of the Championship with only one point from their first seven games in 2021/22.

However, the former Swansea City manager accomplished the impossible by bringing the club to the Premier League with a 1-0 victory over Huddersfield Town at Wembley.

Cooper worked his magic once more during the club’s first top-flight season in 23 years, achieving survival despite a massive inflow of new arrivals, leaving him with the daunting challenge of transforming a group of strangers into a Premier League-worthy squad.

A terrible start to the 2023/24 season, including a run of five defeats in six games preceding up to Cooper’s departure, would cost him his job at the City Ground, with multiple names vying for the fan-favourite position in the dugout.

According to a recent Guardian story, advisor George Syrianos proposed that the club hire former Eintracht Frankfurt manager Oliver Glasner, with the Austrian being an ideal fit for the Reds’ roster.

According to the source, the club reached a verbal agreement with the 49-year-old to take over at the City Ground before owner Marinakis learned of the contract and chose to pursue another option.
