BREAKING NEWS: Norwich star on loan Adam Idah to finally sign a permanent contract at Celtic – Personal terms agreed.

According to John Hartson, Celtic needs to recruit Adam Idah of Norwich City permanently this summer.

Idah signed during the January window and has been on loan at Parkhead for the second part of the season.

With 11 Premiership appearances, the striker has made 11 goals and two assists, making a significant contribution to the Scottish powerhouses (all data courtesy of Fbref).

With four games left in the season, his goals have helped Celtic pull away from rivals Rangers by three points.

However, there is no option to buy clause in the loan deal with the Canaries, meaning he is set to return to Carrow Road at the end of the campaign.

Hartson urges Celtic to sign Adam Idah

Hartson is cautious since Idah has performed so well on loan that the cost of signing him has probably gone up.

But he thinks it’s hard to find strikers as good as the Ireland international, and he suggests Celtic should make acquiring him their top priority this summer.

“It’s difficult to find strikers,” Hartson added, according to the Glasgow Times.

Because he’s been [a] success at the club, the fee to get him now will have increased dramatically.

But this season, he has scored significant goals for Celtic.

“Some of the crowd seemed a little taken aback when he first arrived.

“They looked at him playing for Norwich, maybe not getting a game every week, and it was a loan signing.

“But he has done well. He’s big and powerful, he can run in behind and he knows how to finish.

“If Celtic can get him for around the £4 or 5 million mark, it would be a great bit of business.

“He could be a great signing.

“It can be a gamble with new signings, but Celtic will know what they are gong to get.

“They know he can make an impact in games, they know he can score big goals and handle the pressure.

“It’s a decision for Brendan Rodgers but I have been impressed with him.

“He seems a level-headed boy who has a lot of attributes.”

Before moving to Celtic on loan, Idah made 28 appearances in the Championship this season, but just 12 of those were starts.

David Wagner’s team was vying for a play-off spot thanks to his six goals and one assist.

He now behind Josh Sargent in the Carrow Road hierarchy, though, having gained the majority of his playing time when the American was sidelined due to injury.

Although it’s unclear if Norwich would consent to a long-term contract this summer, his Celtic performances have probably increased his transfer worth.

Celtic move would suit Adam Idah

Idah’s January transfer to Celtic has proven to be beneficial, as evidenced by his recent play, which is among his best in a long time.

When he initially made his debut at Norwich, he shown a lot of promise, but he has struggled to advance and has now dropped behind Sargent in the hierarchy.

As his career has reached a standstill at Carrow Road, a permanent transfer to Celtic may be the best course of action.

Any decision on his future, though, will probably need to wait until the Canaries find out which league they will play in the next season.
