Just In:Ipswich Jubilation After Coventry Victory
After a fierce 2-1 victory over Coventry City at the Coventry Building Society Arena,
Town is just one point away from making a Premier League comeback. The Blues led 1-0 at halftime thanks to a
goal from Kieffer Moore in the eighth minute. However, the Sky Blues, who had been in control for extended
periods of time, tied the score five minutes later when Haji Wright scored. Town then used 11 minutes of added
time to secure three crucial points and move one point closer to back-to-back promotions.
Leif Davis was healthy enough to start at left back for the team that drew 3-3 with Hull City on Saturday,
but manager Kieran McKenna made three changes.
Luke Woolfenden was replaced at the center of defense by George Edmundson, while Nathan Broadhead,
who had been sidelined due to a minor knock, was back in the starting lineup on the left, taking Conor Chaplin’s
place. Omari Hutchinson moved to the center of the three-man behind Kieffer Moore, the new striker, replacing
George Hirst.
Harry Clarke and Ali Al-Hamadi were not among the substitutes, although all three of the players who withdrew
were on the bench. After rolling his ankle at Hull, Davis hobbled off, thus Cameron Humphreys entered the
team as cover.
From the squad that drew 0-0 at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, Coventry made two substitutions:
Joel Latibeaudiere replaced the suspended Liam Kitching, and Ben Sheaf, who had previously been injured,
started in place of Callum O’Hare, who was on the bench.
Hutchinson’s opening goal of the match, which went straight at Coventry keeper Brad Collins in the fifth
minute, gave the Blues a strong start to the match.
Congratulations Ipswich
