The record-breaking defender has no intention of quitting Ibrox for a life-changing move to Saudi

James Tavernier dismissed rumors of a megabucks move to Saudi Arabia,

although he did admit that he had discussions with Rangers about a testimonial.

Al Ettifaq officials are getting ready to support Tavernier with yet another massive transfer bonus, and former Gers manager Steven Gerrard has been strongly linked to a summer raid for the player. According to reports from the Middle East, Gerrard is expected to make a move once Celtic defeats him in the Scottish Cup Final next month.

But Gerrard has received a cold warning from Philippe Clement, who said it would take millions to persuade Rangers to go with their record-breaking defender. “I have two seasons left on my Rangers contract, and we’re in talks about a testimonial,” stated the 32-year-old. I have a contract with the Rangers, and I’m totally focused on the upcoming years. I’m looking forward to what the upcoming years have in store. This is where I’m concentrating all of my attention.

It’s something that’s rare to witness in modern football. Receiving a player testimonial is quite uncommon, and this is another significant achievement. It’s a standard that I’d want to see—ten years at a club.”

Asked if his head could ever be turned by a life-changing move to Saudi, he added: “Football talks and it can sometimes be out of your own control. But I’m a Rangers player and my full focus is here. I’ve got two seasons left, my family are settled and we’re loving life. This is my ninth season and I’ve always tried to better myself.”
