The Northern Irishman has the Tractor Boys entangled in a battle at the top of the Championship

table the whole season, having guided them to promotion the previous one. The East Anglian team is attempting to pull off a historic back-to-back promotion as the campaign nears its end.

Thanks to his efforts, McKenna won the manager of the season title in the Championship, and

previous reports of interest in his services have come from Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion.

However, it is now rumoured that he is being considered by another Premier League team.

According to TEAMtalk, West Ham is thinking about replacing David Moyes this summer with

Ipswich Town boss McKenna, as Moyes’ contract is coming to an end and a summer departure

seems more likely.

McKenna’s contract has a £4 million release clause, and the Hammers are in high alert. He may

bring a fresh attack-oriented mindset to the London Stadium, according to several in the club’s

upper echelons.

Inevitable interest

Before, McKenna’s work had garnered praise, and following an incredible season for Ipswich Town,

the manager was sure to gain further interest from teams looking for a new head coach.

It will take time to see if the determined Championship promotion-chasers can hang on to him.

When the 37-year-old first appeared in the Manchester United senior team’s backroom crew, he was

well regarded as a coach, and many people predicted that he would continue to rise with Ipswich.

It has been incredible effort by McKenna to get them to this position in such a short amount of time, albeit few would have predicted them to achieve these heights this early.

Given his quick rise and impressive football skills, McKenna is sure to be in demand elsewhere.

The West Ham post may become available this summer, so keep an eye out for McKenna.

Retaining him would be much simpler if Ipswich Town were to win the promotion, but it might be difficult to stop him from moving up to the Premier League on his own.
