Jamie Vardy handed Premier League offer after Leicester City promotion heroics

Enzo Maresca encouraged Jamie Vardy to stay at Leicester for another shot at the Premier League.

The ex-England striker rolled back the years on Monday night, scoring twice as Leicester secured their return to the top division as champions with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Preston. The 37-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season, but he claims he wants to continue playing. And, after bringing his league score to 18, Maresca confirmed that he wants him in his squad next season.

The Leicester manager stated, “Jamie Vardy is Leicester.” Jamie Vardy has always scored goals, and he will continue to do so even at the age of 40 or 45. Scoring goals comes naturally to him. We are extremely fortunate that he is our player.

“Now we complete the season; we have a game on Saturday, and then we sit. But if I can make up my mind, I believe he will stay.

Maresca’s first season in command has been extremely fulfilling, as he has revitalised the 2016 Premier League winners following their unexpected relegation last season.

Their promotion was guaranteed when second-placed Leeds lost to QPR last Friday, and following a comfortable victory at Deepdale, they now have the possibility to finish the season with 100 points in their final game against Blackburn.

The Italian exclaimed, “It’s a fantastic feeling.” We’ve mentioned it several times: it’s been a difficult and hard season. The Championship is a lengthy season with many games, but we completed it and are really satisfied.

“The performances were there and I think we completely deserved this target.”

Maresca confirmed that several festivities had already taken place before travelling to Lancashire. He remarked, “I had pizza and invited the coaching staff to my house, but then the players showed up around 2 a.m.! The party lasted slightly longer.

“We really liked the previous two days. I reminded them that they should enjoy it because we work hard every day for occasions like these. But we tried to stay focused yesterday to get ready for the game.”

Vardy scored both before and after halftime, and Kasey McAteer sealed the victory.

Preston manager Ryan Lowe conceded Leicester were too powerful, despite his side’s lack of threat.

He stated, “They’re a good team.” We knew they’d have long stretches of play and control it, but the three goals, you can’t give them those opportunities or they’ll punish you. Despite their dominance and brilliance, the three goals were annoying, and this needs to change.

“But they’ve done an excellent job. They have set a high standard, and I wish them all the best and congrats.
