According to Jacob Steinberg, West Ham’s negotiations with Jacob Greaves have moved along favorably as the

Irons want to recruit the defender as part of a “big summer.”

On April 29, a journalist for The Guardian stated on the newspaper’s website that negotiations with the Hull

City center back “have moved in the right direction,” and the team is also interested in signing Fulham’s Tosin

Adarabioyo, who is set to leave.

Callum O’Hare, an attacking midfielder for Coventry City, is one of eight new players who West Ham want to

recruit before the end of the current campaign in an effort to increase their number of homegrown players.

The Hammers are currently attempting to sign the Championship standout Greaves, 23, who was recognized as

one of the two best men in his position in the second tier after being named to the division’s Team of the Season

at the EFL Awards. The Hammers contemplated signing Greaves in the January window [Mirror, 5 March].

Will West Ham sign a new native defender?

Given the uncertainty surrounding the fate of the majority of West Ham’s existing central defenders,

it seems like Tim Steidten will be responsible for assembling a fresh back line for the upcoming campaign.

Since arriving two seasons ago, Nayef Aguerd has been linked to several moves, while captain Kurt Zouma is

also reportedly drawing interest from other teams.

In any case, Angelo Ogbonna’s contract is slated to expire at the end of the current campaign, and he will turn

36 next month.

Thilo Kehrer left on loan in January and isn’t expected back, while Konstantinos Mavropanos only joined from

Bayer Leverkusen last summer and would probably be expected to stay even if he hasn’t proven to be vital if an

offer came in.

An upgrade appears to be required since the defense, which was once such a strength under David Moyes,

has been breached far too easily this season in what appears to be the Scot’s final season at the club.

Furthermore, if the manager is truly changed in the summer, his replacement may lead a totally different team.
