Bruno Guimaraes, a midfielder for Newcastle United,

stated that if he could bring any player to the team, he would sign Lucas Paqueta, his best buddy.

The Brazilians were teammates in the Ligue 1 while they played with Lyon in France, but they now play together for their nation.

In 2022, they both became Premier League players, and if Newcastle had pursued Paqueta further,

they might have been on the same team.

The former Lyon midfielder was a target for the Magpies,

but West Ham outbid them for his services and prevailed in the signing process.

At the time, manager Eddie Howe had other plans than signing Paqueta.

He moved to bolster the Toon Army by bringing in Nick Pope, Sven Botman, and Alexander Isak.

The inventive Brazilian midfielder was acquired by the Hammers for a club record £51.3 million.

If Bruno could bring any player to the club,

he would want his fellow countryman to accompany him at St. James’ Park.

Newcastle United star is not the only admirer of Paqueta

The player is admired by Pep Guardiola, who wanted his club to sign him in the summer.

The relocation was almost finished, but Paqueta’s involvement in a bet controversy prompted an investigation.

This summer, Man City is anticipated to rekindle their interest in the midfield player.

The former Lyon midfielder has helped the Hammers score 10 goals this season in the Premier League.
