Aston Villa ‘could be relegated’ to the Championship due to FFP; timeline on punishment revealed

According to rumors, Manchester City may be demoted to the Championship due to their reported 115 infractions of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations.

The topic of PSR, formerly known as Financial Fair Play (FFP),

has drawn more attention after Everton and Nottingham Forest were controversially punished eight and four points, respectively, for violations this season.

After a spirited 4-0 victory over Brighton on Friday, Man City is still the favorite to win the championship this season,

but the possibility of being relegated to the lower leagues looms large.

Premier League CEO Richard Masters responded to a question earlier this week about whether a secondPremier League banner

Man City championship while their 115 charges are still pending would compromise sport’s credibility by saying,

“It’s not for the football authorities to start being selective about who they would like to win the league.”

“The case will resolve itself at some point in the near future, and I cannot make any further comments on it,

” the spokesperson said. “Obviously, we cannot comment on the case. The date has been set.”

Man City’s appeal will be heard by an independent commission later this year, but most definitely not before the current campaign concludes.

Considering the severity of the accusations, it’s possible that the case won’t be resolved until the following year.

For Man City, the prospect of relegation is extremely real.

In a statement issued at the time of the 115 allegations against them, Man City stated that they were in favor of an independent panel reviewing the case in order “to impartially consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence that exists in support of our position.”

“As such, we look forward to this matter being put to rest once and for all,” the club continued.

In a “big update” on the PSR hearing, Football Insider stated on Saturday that it is “unlikely” that Man City’s case would be resolved “before the end of next season.”

This is in spite of rumors that the independent hearing is scheduled to start in October of this year.

Man City “have long argued that they have done nothing wrong since the Premier League released its statement 14 months ago,” according to Football Insider.

“They have successfully bought time and organized their arguments in advance of the hearing, which is now scheduled for later this year.”
