REPORT : Leeds stance made clear as 49ers meet with Daniel Farke

Leeds United owners 49ers Enterprises have already held a meeting with Daniel Farke to discuss the summer’s transfer plans at Elland Road, according to Ben Jacobs.

The journalist for Give Me Sport clarified that the owners had stated categorically that

the manager would be able to retain most of his team if they were promoted to the Premier League.

This is in the midst of a recent ruling about Willy Gnonto’s future.

According to Jacobs, Leeds will be well-positioned to reject any offers if they can secure promotion this season.

Jacobs stated, “If Leeds go up, the aim will be to keep the core of their squad together,

” in an interview with Give Me Sport on April 27.

Daniel Farke and the Leeds ownership have already met once as part of their pre-summer planning.

“They made it quite evident in that meeting that he will be able to maintain

the core of his team if he is promoted to the Premier League.

“Leeds are battling to get back into the Premier League, and if they do, they’ll have the ability to turn down bids.

“I would expect him to have learned from that first Everton saga and

to handle it much differently if someone comes calling for Wilfried Gnonto and Leeds are in the Premier League and they don’t want to sell him.”

Leeds United promotion bid takes huge blow v Queens Park Rangers

The 49ers’ primary problem with Farke’s ambitions is that they hinge on winning the Premier League,

and Leeds’ chances of earning automatic promotion this season were all but eliminated after a loss to Queens Park Rangers.

Leicester was promoted after losing 4-0 at Loftus Road,

and they drew level on points with one game remaining against their opponents,

Ipswich and Hull. Should they win that game, they would need to match Leeds’ outcome on the last day of play.

Although promotion is still possible if Ipswich loses, Leeds can no longer control it,

which puts a wrench in the club’s summer transfer plans as they would now have to reconsider their alternatives.

Their league standing will probably be the largest problem when it comes to recruitment in terms of who they can sign,

who they can keep, and who they will have to sell, but a meeting with Farke will have set up some basic alternatives.
