Julen Lopetegui is on the verge of being appointed by Milan, eliminating him from contention to succeed David Moyes as West Ham’s manager.

However, Milan is also planning to identify the Spaniard as Stefano Pioli’s replacement in order to make a managerial shift.

Lopetegui is more drawn to the opportunity to play for the big Italian teams.

West Ham and Lopetegui, who left Wolves last summer, had had fruitful discussions.

Lopetegui is currently unemployed. Crucial players at the London Stadium,

though, are reportedly divided on whether the former manager of Real Madrid and Spain is the best choice to succeed Moyes, whose chances of signing a new contract are rapidly fading.

In addition, Paulo Fonseca of Lille, Sebastian Hoeness of Stuttgart, Hansi Flick,

and Marco Silva of Fulham have been given consideration by West Ham,

who still have a chance to make it to Europe. It seems unlikely that they will make a play for Graham Potter.

Rúben Amorim, 39, apologized to Sporting Lisbon after West Ham and the Portuguese team were unable to reach an agreement last Monday.

It was an error. The timing was entirely off, according to Amorim.

“Even though I told the club beforehand, I wasn’t respectful, despite my constant requests for it from my players.

I sincerely apologize to the players, the club, and the fans.
