Shocking:Clubs joins forces to push for West Ham points deduction with reasons revealed.
David Moyes believes the drama surrounding Everton’s points deduction has left Premier League owners
“frightened” and warned the top flight’s integrity will be at risk if the relegation battle is not settled until after
the final day of the season. Moyes has insisted decisions over additional deductions must be made before the
conclusion of the relegation battle this season.
On Saturday afternoon, Moyes leads his West Ham team into his old club. The Toffees have improved their
chances of surviving this week after their penalty for financial fair play violations was lowered from ten points
to six.
The independent committee that assessed the initial punishment “made legal errors,” according to an appeal panel’s findings.
Although Moyes considers that to be a serious reason for concern, the Hammers manager feels that clubs’
transfer activity has already been affected by the threat of sanctions following an unusually quiet January
transfer window.
“First and foremost, I think it’s probably scared all the owners about how much money we’re going to be able to
spend and how we spend it,” Moyes said. Kalvin Phillips, a Manchester City loanee, was Moyes’ first January
acquisition. Everyone is feeling a little scared about it.
The fact that some of the best QCs on the panel likely sat and misjudged Everton’s initial sentence is even more
disheartening. It’s similar to hoping that the authorities would carry out their duties properly when someone
goes to court.
“The second panel said no, there should be a reduction, but the first panel stated it’s 10 points.
We shouldn’t be getting things incorrect, but I’m not an expert, so I’m not sure how they arrived at the points.
