Senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke mentioned on the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Inside

Track podcast that Sheffield United was recently docked two points by

the EFL for missing some of their outstanding transfer payments.

According to the Whites’ most recent financial statements,

they owe £73.6 million in unpaid transfer fees, which must be settled by the end of June.

If the matter isn’t settled by the deadline, the teams Leeds owe money to may bring it up with FIFA or the FA,

putting Leeds in a “ugly” scenario.

O’Rourke declared that the club’s unpaid transfer fees are

a “worrying sign” in light of the fact that they lost £34 million in the most recent fiscal year.

Leeds United must get on top of concerning financial situation

To allay their financial worries, Elland Road officials will be hopeful that their team

can return to the Premier League immediately this season.

If Leeds doesn’t advance in the upcoming weeks,

there has been a lot of conjecture that they may have to sell some of their important players.

This is owing to the club maybe needing to earn some money to pay off their debts,

in addition to the fact that some of their players might be eager to try their hand at a higher level next season.

After posting a £37 million loss in 2021–2022, O’Rourke disclosed that

the Whites may be getting closer to the £83 million in losses that teams are permitted to incur in the EFL during a three-year period.

As Daniel Farke’s team looks to lock up a spot in the top division for the upcoming season,

it elevates the stakes on the pitch in the coming weeks.

In other news, following “devastating” financial struggles, Leeds United will have to sell star players.
