Celtic are apparently keeping an eye on Queens Park Rangers custodian Asmir Begovic as they look for Joe Hart’s successor.

Parkhead Number 1 Hart will leave at the end of the season, leaving Brendan Rodgers desperate for a replacement for the next season,

and reports south of the border now indicate 36-year-old Begovic is on the “shortlist” of candidates being evaluated by the Scottish Premiership leaders.

The veteran is due to become a free agent this summer as his contract with the Championship club expires after he helped them avoid relegation.

The former Chelsea, Stoke and Everton goalkeeper was the first choice at Loftus Road this season, making 36 games.

However, talkSPORT reports that the former Bosnia international is being “looked at” as one of Celtic’s “options to replace Hart this summer.”

However, Begovic has stated that he is willing to extend his stay at QPR.

The shot-stopper is expected to make a decision on his future soon, with QPR’s second-tier position assured.

Back in 2022, during the Sydney Super Cup encounter in Australia, the then-Everton goalkeeper praised Celtic.
