Former Rangers Legend Ally McCoist says the club should prioritise the signing of Ollie Watkins over Lawrence Shankland.

After Manchester United’s dismal season, INEOS will have no doubts about the extent of the rebuild that is needed at Old Trafford.

This year’s many attackers have struggled, and Erik ten Hag and his forces have performed below expectations throughout the campaign.

United will undoubtedly add an attacker or two to the roster this summer as they are by far the lowest scorers in the top half of the Premier League.

Former United defender Paul Parker has offered his opinion on the matter,

with a number of names being mentioned as potential additions to increase United’s firepower.Aston Villa: Demanding Unai Emery can make Ollie Watkins even better

Parker rejects the idea of Brentford’s Ivan Toney joining the team, believing that Ollie Watkins,

a striker for Aston Villa, is the ideal addition at Old Trafford.

According to mybettingsites.com, Parker gave a resolute response when asked if he thought Toney would come up with a way to help Rasmus Hojlund in United’s attack.

Not at all. Not really. Someone more significant than Ivan Toney must be involved.

“As a Premier League striker, he hasn’t accrued enough points to warrant having an understudy,” the man stated.

When asked about Watkins, Parker said he is “the best all-around center-forward in the league”

and that Watkins would be a far better choice to improve United’s offensive options.

“Watkins is the player you should bring in if you’re going to bring in a center

-forward who will be based in the United Kingdom,” Parker remarked,

“Look at how many goals he scores, his work ethic off the ball—he’s so selfless and still manages to score goals.”

The former full-back says a £100 million price tag is “deserved one,”

but he thinks United would need to make a nine-figure offer to lure Watkins away from Villa Park.

It’s interesting to note that Treble-winning striker Dwight Yorke agreed,

telling United to overlook Toney in favor of Watkins in an exclusive interview with The Peoples Person.

Toney “isn’t a United player,” according to Yorke, and “wouldn’t fit the system” at Old Trafford.

“I’d prefer to take a chance on Ollie Watkins.” He moves considerably better,

is animated, and dashes down the channel. Yorke had stated, “Toney is well, but he’s not that mobile.

Watkins has become one of the Premier League’s top attackers with 26 goals and 12 assists so far this season.

Without a doubt, the 28-year-old has advanced greatly under Unai Emery’s guidance,

as evidenced by his limitless energy and newly discovered self-assurance in front of goal,

which have propelled Villa into the coveted Champions League spots.
