Anel Ahmedhodzic gave the Blades a well-earned lead in the fifth minute, which silenced the

52,196 spectators at St. James’ Park. The Magpies had a terrible first half, but Isak’s wonderful

goal tied the score at halftime.

Following their 8-0 victory at Bramall Park in September, they defeated the visitors 5-1, relegating

them to second place in the Premier League. They scored four goals in eighteen minutes of the

second half through Bruno Guimaraes, Isak, Ben Osborn’s own goal, and substitute Callum Wilson.

Five minutes had passed when the visitors executed a short corner play that allowed Ahmedhodzic

to head Gustavo Hamer’s cross past Martin Dubravka, putting Eddie Howe’s team down.

After breaking from his own half with the hosts in disarray, Cameron Archer—whose pace combined with Ben Brereton Diaz’s physicality proved problematic throughout—prepared to fire. If Dan Burn hadn’t been able to step in and stop him, it might have been 2-0 within three minutes.

As the Magpies began to come out of their stupor, Ahmedhodzic stopped a shot from Sean Longstaff after Guimaraes had slid him in. However, Burn had to make another crucial save to thwart Archer

after the striker had easily defeated Fabian Schar.

Ben Osborn attempted to clear the ball, but instead backheeled the ball into his own net, making it

4-1 in just four minutes. Holgate had already hauled Gordon to the ground, and Isak had coolly converted a penalty to give the Magpies a further advantage.

Wilson made it 5-1 with a deft finish after Foderingham denied him five minutes after he arrived,

but Foderingham was not able to stop fellow replacement Harvey Barnes from playing him in.

After Alex Murphy, a replacement, tackled Jayden Bogle in the last seconds, the visitors were

given a penalty, but their suffering ended when referee Tony Harrington overturned his call after consulting the pitchside monitor.
