Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton suggested the fan in question could face a ban or the club could be handed a hefty sanction due to the bottle-thrower’s “ridiculous” antics during the 3-3 draw.

Celtic released a statement condemning the Rangers fans’ “appalling and completely unacceptable behaviour.”

A Celtic official stated that a glass bottle was hurled at O’Riley, 23, after he scored the team’s second goal, a panenka penalty in the 34th minute.

Rangers could lose points due to ‘ridiculous’ crowd behavior?

“It’s really going to affect the fans in the long run,” he told Football Insider.

“We discuss how the atmosphere is not the same without both sets of fans.

“But these types of issues just strengthen the case for not having away fans.

“You must be able to manage yourself in these games.

“As I’ve mentioned previously, this is a highly emotional period.

“Throwing items onto the pitch has the potential to seriously damage someone.

“Nobody wants to watch that; it is ludicrous.
