Aston Villa appears to be working on a revised club crest that will update the current design.

Aston Villa is well aware of the fact that altering the club’s crest is a delicate process that needs

to be handled with caution in order to prevent negative feedback from supporters.

However, the Midlands group is unable to conceal their new insignia. After being submitted to the Intellectual Property Office for trademarking, the shield-shaped effort—which, to be honest, we

would find difficult to differentiate from earlier iterations without a side-by-side comparison—came

to light last year and is currently being promoted by their new primary shirt sponsor.

The current version of the graphic, which has been in use since 2016, has been rapidly altered on

the website of the betting company Betano.

The newly revealed badge is yellow again and features the lion looking left, resembling a livelier

AC/DC.

In essence, it is identical to the current emblem, which is still in use aside from the kit (of course),

except it reads “1874” under the lion’s feet and “AVFC” above its head instead of “AVFC.”

Lastly, a single star commemorates the team’s 1982 European Cup victory in the upper left corner. Unless, of course, that’s supposed to be a lion fending off a firefly to represent how sometimes even

the strongest among us must fight against strange new foes, or whatever marketing jargon they’re

bound to spout when they formally unveil it.

In 2016, Villa took down the term “PREPARED” from their emblem, presumably as a subtle jab at

the team that had been demoted from the Premier League that year.

The phrase has yet to reappear, which is solely meant to be interpreted as a harsh jab at Unai Emery.
