Celtic have been offered the opportunity to recruit DR Congo international Charles Pickel, according to reports.

The defensive midfielder is presently playing in Serie B for Cremonese,

who are hoping to return to Serie A for the first time after being relegated last season.

Pickel, who was born in Switzerland, played alongside current Rangers attacker Cyriel Dessers at the Italian club last season after joining from Portuguese side Famalicao two years earlier.

The 26-year-old has 12 caps for DR Congo and was part of the Africa Cup of Nations squad that advanced to the semi-finals earlier this year.

According to Football Scotland, Pickel’s name has been submitted to Celtic after the club put out a call for a player in his position.

According to the source, the offer to Celtic comes amid interest from the English Championship,

including Leeds United and Preston North End.

Meanwhile, Feyenoord are reportedly interested in Rangers academy director Zeb Jacobs.

The Belgian joined Ibrox three years ago after holding a similar job at Royal Antwerp in his own country.

He initially joined as Head of Academy Coaching before being promoted to his current position last summer.

According to rumours in the Netherlands, he is being pursued by last season’s Eredivisie champions as a replacement for current academy director Rini Coolen,

who is scheduled to leave the Rotterdam club at the end of this season.

According to reports, Jacobs, 29, has a clause in his Rangers contract that allows him to quit the club with one month’s notice if another club approaches him. Dennis te Kloese,

Feyenoord’s technical director, is looking for a swift appointment and has named Jacobs as his top contender.
