Leicester City FFP allegations made as Leeds United rivals ‘at risk of potential points deduction’

Leicester City are currently three points clear at the top of the Championship table

If Leicester City is promoted to the Premier League, they could potentially lose points the following season.

Though they have lost their last three league games,

the Foxes are currently leading the Championship and seek to return to the top flight at the first attempt.

With Leeds United five points behind and them three ahead of their closest competitors,

Ipswich Town, Enzo Maresca’s team currently has a sizable lead.

It appears, though, that Leicester’s return to the top flight may not be as sweet as they had hoped.

The Sun claims that the club is being questioned on two possible infractions of the financial fair play rules.Corner flag image at Leicester City's King Power Stadium home ground

Top flight teams are allowed to lose a maximum of £105 million over the course of three seasons according to the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability guidelines,

but there are rumors that Leicester may have gone beyond while playing in the league.

According to the study,

clubs anticipate that Leicester will finish this year’s Championship campaign with more losses than are allowed during a three-year period.

The play League is only permitted to lose £13 million annually,

or £83 million when two seasons of Premier League play are factored in.

There have been hints that Leicester may lose more than that amount.

For violating the Premier League’s FFP regulations during the same time frame,

Everton and Nottingham Forest are also facing penalty; the Toffees have already lost six points this season due to an earlier infraction.

They were compelled to turn in their accounts at the conclusion of the previous year because they are currently elite teams.

Although Leicester hasn’t been forced to provide any financial information,

the article raises questions about the club’s possible financial situation, comparable to those of Everton and Forest.

Due to the postponement of Leicester’s possible relegation case,

they may return to the top flight before they have any answers.
