Celtic should offer departing Joe Hart a “wonderful sign-off,” according to Brendan Rodgers.

There are only six games remaining in the 37-year-old former England shot-stopper’s professional career.

He announced his retirement in February.

Every game matters a lot because the Hoops, who lead the Premiership by three points at the moment,

need to win the league before playing Rangers in Hart’s final Scottish Cup match on May 25.

Rodgers said of the player, “He’s been an absolutely brilliant player in his career,” on Celtic TV.

“If you go back to when he was a young player at Shrewsbury and then fast-forward,

everything in his life—his dedication, his sacrifices—has been for the team.

He really is a team player. He’s quite smart, based on the way he has helped his teammates this season.

Naturally, we want to do it for the club, but this would be a great way for Joe to end his career.”

At ‘An Evening With Joe Hart’ at Parkhead on Sunday,

Rodgers disclosed that the Englishman—who played for West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur in his playing career—was astonished by the support from the crowd. Hart has 75 caps for his nation.

“For the club to arrange that for Joe, for the tickets to sell out in one day, and for him to feel that affection, that is what players and people miss when they leave Celtic because it just does not happen in the majority of clubs, that feeling. He was just so appreciative of that from speaking to him during and after the event.”

Hart represented ten clubs over his illustrious career, lifting the Premier League twice with Manchester City and being part of the Spurs squad that reached the final of the Carabao Cup in 2021.
