Towards the close of the January window, we received word from Italy that Sunderland had rejected a Lazio bid for Jack Clarke.

According to journalist Alfredo Pedullà, the 23-year-old tried to persuade the Black Cats to let him go, but they never did.

Fast forward to April, and Corriere dello Sport reports that the Sunderland star’may come back into fashion’ following Lazio’s winter market attempt.

and Pedro may follow suit if his contract is not renewed [it expires in June].

As a result, Lazio would need to sign at least two new attacking players during the summer transfer window.

The report suggests that the Italian club return for players they sought to recruit in January,

with just the Sunderland winger mentioned.

Clarke has just over two years left on his contract, and the article adds that his asking price would be exorbitant for Lazio.

There is no mention of any amounts, but the Black Cats may retain their firm attitude,

as they did when Lazio made an approach earlier this year. In other words, Igor Tudor’s side will find it difficult to persuade Sunderland.
