Official Southampton Football Club sack manager after a series of defeats ‘Leicester City 5 – 0 Southampton’

Leicester City crushed Southampton 5-0 at the King Power on Tuesday night thanks to a late burst of goals.

Midway through the half, Abdul Fatawu scored a (perhaps offside) goal to give the Foxes a 1-0 lead at the interval.

Fifteen minutes into the second half, Wilfred Ndidi extended the lead, and then the floodgates unleashed.

final margin in what was undoubtedly the most entertaining game of the season—so far—was delivered by a Jamie Vardy sandwiched between Fatawu’s second and third goals in the course of six minutes. The player of the match was Fatawu.

one is obvious with three goals and an assist. It’s reasonable to argue that “everyone was great, no one was poor” in this type of contest. Their fullback was in the back pocket of both wingers, which meant the opposition would have a difficult day.

Please remember Jamie Vardy, who is arguably our most underappreciated player.

Although his training plan isn’t “conventional,” it is effective.

Few players his age are charging at defenders on their second start in four days and chasing every lost cause. He has made 18 starts and scored 18 goals thus far, which is…good.

For good reason, the story will center over the horrific attack, but that is not the entire picture.

The Leicester defense maintained their first league clean sheet since early March, seldom looking challenged.

Much of the heavy work was done by the high press, but there was no getting past the back three or four (Enzo, you could simplify this, don’t you think?).

It makes sense that Vardy and company felt like they were going back in time.

Despite only possessing 34% of the ball, we outshot the Saints 17–6, with 6 of our shots going in as opposed to their 0. Claudio Ranieri is grinning somewhere, hopefully on a sunny beach holding an Aperol spritz. I am aware that Maresca is not fond of retaliating.

The Foxes now have 94 points from 44 games after the win. Strangely,

although it’s not quite enough to ensure a promotion automatically, it’s getting very near.

Although I won’t go over every scenario, Leeds is up 90 points from 44, while Ipswich is up 89 from 43.

Crucially, this significant victory gives us a goal difference edge of 4 over Leeds and 15 over the Tractor Boys. We ought to win any tiebreaker.

We travel to Deepdale on Monday to play Preston North End. After that, we host Blackburn Rovers on Saturday,

April 4. Following that? Hopefully, there won’t be a “after that,” since if there are, we’ll lose out on automatic promotion and have to wait out the playoffs.
