Chiefs coach Andy Reid to coach till age 72, as his contract has been extended
Andy Reid, the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, is currently the oldest coach in the NFL after 72-year-olds Pete Carroll and Bill Belichick were fired by the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots, respectively, following the 2023 season.
March was his 66th birthday.
A new contract extension now extends through the 2029 season, when he will be seventy-two.
In a statement issued by the team, Reid said, “I’m incredibly grateful to Clark and the entire Hunt family for giving me the opportunity to lead this historic franchise.” “Chiefs Kingdom is a unique location, and I feel privileged to be present here.”
Reid may retire far before 2029, of course, but this new contract, which was revealed four days prior to the NFL Draft in 2024, at least allows him to continue coaching until that age.
Reid talked about being willing to coach into his seventies after his last contract extension.

The Chiefs, who have been with Reid since his Philadelphia Eagles days, announced an extended contract with him this time around in addition to general manager Brett Veach and president Mark Donovan.
