According to sources, Arsenal and Manchester City are expected to compete for Bruno Guimaraes,

a standout player for Newcastle United, during the forthcoming summer transfer window.

In his current Newcastle contract, Guimaraes has a release clause of approximately £100 million,

but other interested teams might try to negotiate a lower price.

Newcastle’s chief executive, Darren Eales, said earlier this year that the club could need to sell a few players in order to adhere to profit and sustainability regulations (PSR).

Because of this, Arsenal has shown interest in Alexander Isak, a striker for Newcastle,

but they are also trying to get Guimaraes, according to The Telegraph.

The bad news for Arsenal is that Guimaraes, who has shown promise since joining the Magpies in 2022,

is also a target for City, one of the top teams in the Premier League.

Declan Rice was signed by Arsenal after a summertime struggle with City, when Pep Guardiola’s team was defeated.

Although the 26-year-old central midfielder has also been connected to French champions Paris-Saint-Germain,

Guimaraes is aware of the attention from Arsenal and City.

When asked about the future of the Brazil international earlier this month,

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe responded, “My intention would be to keep Bruno for as long as we possibly can.”

I can never promise anything, though.

“That would be utterly stupid of me.” I’ve played football long enough to know that you can never predict what will occur the next day.

However, he is a vital member of the team and is now playing exceptionally well.

‘A lot will depend on our ambitions and where the club is going in the foreseeable future.’

Arsenal are keen for midfield reinforcements at the end of the season amid big question marks over the futures of both Thomas Partey and Jorginho.
